Already we see the benefits of Premiere.com going online only! I grew up reading the magazine and its movie star profiles, but my cinematic appetite now leans much closer to this, the type of rarefied coverage for which the publication would never make more than a slender column's worth of room. Bravo, Glenn! (And I'm surprised that you didn't conduct the interview in French -- if memory serves, you know the language.)

What a gentleman he is, especially in his graceful comments about other directors taking over his themes. I recently had a good reason (don't ask) to look at the Steven Soderbergh remake of Tarkovsky's Solaris, and thought, never mind Tarkovsky -- Resnais is the one who should sue.

I'm mildly surprised you didn't ask him about Jacques Demy, whose presence in Coeurs as a sort of ghostly kindred spirit seems unmistakable. Or did you?

And for lord's sake, when if ever will Je T'Aime Je T'Aime be on DVD? Is it even available in Europe?

Tim Lucas

How wonderful to have this experience, even vicariously. Many thanks to you for sharing it.

Resnais is a great filmmaker. His films should be better known in USA.

Books, like friends, should be few and well chosen.
