'Moneypenny, won't you ever believe me?'

Moneypenny

Lois Maxwell, 1927-2007.

Lest we forget, the actress also worked with Powell and Pressburger (A Matter of Life and Death, 1946), Losey (Time Without Pity, 1958), Kubrick (Lolita, 1962), and Wise (The Haunting, 1963).

By all accounts she was a good-humored pro who was simultaneously bemused and proud to have stumbled into one of the longer recurring roles in cinema. The aptly named Samantha Bond took over the Moneypenny role in 1995's Goldeneye (Caroline Bliss was the Dalton-tenure Moneypenny), and the 2006 Casino Royale dispensed with Moneypenny's role altogether.
