In memory of New York TV station WWOR's long-ago practice of running these pictures every Thanksgiving Day, providing a family's cinephile something to fight with its football fans about...

Kong, King Kong, Cooper, Schoedsack, O'Brien, 1933...

...his frankly inexplicable offspring, Son of Kong, Cooper, Schoedsack, O'Brien, 1933...

...the beatific Mister Joseph Young, Mighty Joe Young, Schoedsack and O'Brien, 1949...
Update: a good commenter, below, deplores his inability to embed. I'll embed for him, and for Cinetrix, and for all of you:
Enjoy the nostalgia...

Aw, man.
I knew there was something I neglected to bring with me to the family Thanksgiving gathering - the 3-dvd set of these films, to make the day complete.
Well, thanks for the photos to remind me of a NYC tristate-area Turkey Day tradition.

Way to make me feel guilty for not going to my 91-year-old grandparents' house on Strong Island, Glen. Why not just add an mp3 of the Million Dollar Movie/GWTW theme music and have done with it?
Which is to say, happy turkey day to you and yours.

I wrote about this distant tradition as well and made it a point to at least watch the DVDs of KONG and SON OF on the big day. It's nice to know that there are others out there who remember.

I stopped relying on broadcast TV to see these movies as soon as they were on video/DVD, but they're still a Thanksgiving tradition every year for me!

I'm interested in such offer,The sound quality in these podcasts is really poor. I feel bad about complaining about something that is free, but I think it is important.

The consumer isn't a moron; she is your wife. You insult her in-telligence if you assume that a mere slogan and a few vapid adjectives will persuade her to buy anything.
